Law firms troll for “victims” of synthetic drugs

September 21, 2012

2. Law, 8. Lawsuits

I select my civil law/personal injury cases very carefully.  I just don’t see the moral value in legal extortion.  The cases I do take are as often defense as plaintiff.  So, with all the hype on synthetics – bath salts and cannabinoids – you knew full well the plaintiff’s attorney bar would jump in.

I grabbed this from one such law-firm website (no link – I don’t glorify such things):

Possible Side Effects to Children From Synthetic Drugs:

  • Brain Injury
  • Death
  • Hallucination

Oh, the children!  Yes.  The ones that can’t read.  The ones that clearly had an adult buy the stuff for them because no shops sell to minors.  The ones that are as but little children are smoking weed and chemicals.  Yes, the children!

A publicly available Complaint has a couple of dozen numbered paragraphs all alleging harm, including this beaut:  As a result of the foregoing, Plaintiff has been unable to enjoy the pleasures of life and his ability to enjoy said pleasures may be impaired for the remainder of his life.

Forever?  Really?  All based upon what, precisely?  His voluntary and repeated ingestion of a legal product with a label that reads, “Not for Human Consumption”?  What ever happened to personal accountability?  I trust you got an expert for that.
