Your weekend reading, January 7-8, 2012 – John Lennon’s FBI File

You can spend minutes or hours on these files.  The FBI recently released the third and last installment of their files on John Lennon.  You can catch all three installments here.  I was just tripping through the last file.  It’s sorted by chron, and I dropped to 1977+.  Seems he was dealing with some idiot trying to extort $100,000 from him.  Interesting reading.  These docs are of the same nature that defense counsel would receive in discovery.  John’s fingerprints from his green-card app are also in the file.

I’ve walked past The Dakota where he lived, but never knew the address – Apartment 72, One West 72d Street, NYC (but I guess he owned five or more apartments in the building).  It’s a grand 1880’s NYC construction.  The Strawberry Fields Memorial that Yoko did is across the street in Central Park.  I have pictures of two of my kids there when they were 4 or 5 years old.

Here’s one of my favorite videos.  It comes from the last album in which he was involved in the production.

The video cannot be shown at the moment. Please try again later.

It’s a shame he didn’t get to see his boy grow up.
